Today's Quote:

Your time is limited, so do not waste it living someone elses life. Dont be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other peoples thinking. Dont let the noise of others opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Digital Locking Cylinder 3061

Digital locking cylinder with Network Inside.

Most Digital Lockin System require a separate wireless LockNode at each door in addition to the Digital Locking Cylinder.

But now, thanks to Simon Voss Technologies, the LockNode, has been so dramatically scaled down it can be fitted inside the knob of the new “Digital Locking Cylinder 3061.

But not only that: At the same time additional features have been added, so that the Network can also be used as a “gateway” in the virtual network, transferring information via the transponder. The transponder sends and receives information through the “gateway”; this information can be transmitted to other doors or made available to the system administrator.

“In new buildings, the System 3060 can be networked wirelessly in a few minutes by installing a compact special cylinder. In existing locking and access control systems from SimonsVoss, the wireless WaveNet network can be upgraded quickly and cost-effectively at any time by replacing the knob cap on the cylinder, without having to change the door or door frame”.

Foil Bags used for Theft

November 23, 2009 News No Comments

foil bag

Foil Bags used for Theft.

According to Retail Loss Prevention teams across the country the foil bag is fast becoming the most popular item used in retail theft.

The overall objective of a companies’ Loss Prevention Team is to maximise the profits of an establishment by reducing the occurance of theft or accidental loss of assets also known as “shrinkage”.

Shrinkage is largely caused by employee theft followed by shoplifting with Administrative and Vendor error also included. In order to combat shoplifting of goods many items are installed with an electronic tag or label which is removed or de-activated as soon as the item is bought legitimately. If these tags are not removed or de-activated electro-magnetically, then these will be activated when read by the security pedestals located near the shop exit.

As these tags work by using magnetism, shoplifters are using big carrier bags fitted with metal foil around the outside to stop the electronic readers from detecting the security tags or labels.

Speaking to a shop owner who viewed items being stolen on her CCTV system said: “The thieves just literally swept off a shelf of clothes straight into a large carrier and walked out of the shop without activating the tag alarm.” Later the culprits were apprehended by police and were found to have one of these foil bags to aid them in their crime.

Security Guards and shop staff should therefore be warned of this security risk and be on the lookout for thieves using this tactic.
